HSK 2 is where isolated words start turning into actual conversation. The list adds the connectors and time markers that link ideas together — "because", "so", "already", "still" — on top of everyday verbs for daily situations.
What changes compared to HSK 1
HSK 1 vocabulary is mostly about naming things and people. HSK 2 is about relating them: cause and effect (因为 / 所以), comparison (比, 一样), sequence in time (已经, 正在, 过). These words rarely translate word-for-word into English, which is exactly why they trip learners up more than plain nouns do — recognizing them out of context isn't enough, you need to see them used.

A practical way to learn this list
Because HSK 2 words carry grammatical roles more than fixed meanings, drilling them in short quiz sessions — seeing 因为 and immediately having to recall "because", or the reverse — tends to work better than reading example sentences alone. HSK Trainer lets you restrict practice to HSK 2 only, so you're not mixing in words you haven't reached yet.
